Vermicilli Uppma

Vermicilli Uppma
(semiya Uppma)

ORIGIN:
Vermicilli Uppma or kitchdey (semiya Uppma) is a popular Indian tiffin item rich in maida.It exists from the nineteenth century.It tastes really good .

INGREDIENTS

Vermicilli - 2 cups.

Green chillis - 4

Salt - 3/4 tsp.

Onion - 1

Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp.

Black Gram Dhal -1 tsp.

Oil-50 gms.

Water-4 cups.

PROCEDURE

Step 1:Fry the vermicilli for 5 minutes in a frying pan without oil.

Step 2:Chop the green chillis and the onion into fine pieces.

Step 3:Heat oil in a frying pan and add mustard seeds to it .Wait until it sputters .

Step 4:Now,fry the green chillis and the chopped onions in the same pan for 5 minutes .

Step 5:Add water to the pan and salt to it.

Step 6:Let the water boil for 10 minutes .Then add the dry fried vermicilli to the same pan and wait for 10 more minutes.

Step 7:Keep on mixing.

Step 8:Remove from heat and serve hot with pickle or coconut chutney.

NOTE:

*Take all the ingredients in the above mentioned quantity only.
*Once vermicilli is added to the boiling water ,keep on mixing for 10 minutes,till all the is evaporated.
