Rava Kichdi

ORIGIN:

"Rava Kichdi" is a popular indian tiffin item generally taken as breakfast or dinner.It is usually taken with coconut chutney or pickle.It is nutritious as it contains vegetables like carrot,beans rich in vitamins.

INGREDIENTS

Bombay Rava - 1 cup.

Onion -1

Tomato - 1

Beans,carrot,Peas - 100 gms(together)

water - 3 cups.

Oil - 100 ml

ghee - 1 tsp.

Green Chillis- 5

Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp.

PROCEDURE

Step 1:First chop the vegetables (green chillis,carrot , beans,Onions) into fine small and thin pieces.

Step 2:Add Bombay rava (suji) in a frying pan and heat it and then fry it dry for 2 minutes.

Step 3:Then heat oil in a frying pan,add chopped green chillis and mustard seeds to it and wait until it sputters.

Step 4:Now add the chopped onions into the pan and fry till it turns golden brown.

Step 5:Now add all the other vegetables like carrot ,beans(chopped) into the pan and fry for 10 minutes.

Step 6:Add 3 cups of water to the above mixture,1 tsp of salt and boil for 10 minutes

Step 7:Now add the bombay rava (dry fried) into the boiling vegetables and boil again for 10 minutes.

Step 8:Mix well while boiling and pour ghee (specified quantity) before removing from heat .

Serve hot with coconut chutney or pickle(lemon/mango)

NOTE:
*Take all the ingredients in the above mentioned quantity only.
*Donot forget to mix the rava while boiling it with vegetables.Otherwise it will stick to the kadai and become uneven.
*Be careful with the quantity of water you are taking.This decides the taste of the kichdi.
