Curd Vada

Curd Vada
ORIGIN:

"Curd Vada" is a typical south indian dish made on festive occassions or during celebrations.Its main ingredients are Full-sized black gram dhal which is rich in proteins and curds rich in fat and yeast.It exists from the nineteenth century.

INGREDIENTS

Black gram dhal (full-sized) - 200 gms.

Green chillis - 7

Salt - 1 tsp.

Oil - 400 gms.

Onion - 1

Curds-500 gms.

Grated Coconut - 2 tbsps.

Coriander leaves - 2 tbsps.

PROCEDURE

Step 1:First of all soak the full-sized black gram dhal in 2 cups of water for 4 hours.

Step 2:Then add chopped green chillis (5 green chillis are chopped)and salt to the soaked dhal and grind in a mixer-grinder or a wet grinder to get a thick paste.

Step 3:Then add the chopped onions to the grinded dhal paste and mix well.

Step 4:Then,size a small amount of the mixture into a flat circular shape and pierce a hole in the middle with your finger.

Step 5:Heat Oil in a kadai for 2 minutes and then drop the shaped vada one by one into the oil and deep fry it.

Step 6:Repeat steps 4 and 5.

Step 7:chop the 2 remaining green chillis and mix with grated coconut ,add these to fresh curds and mix well.

Step 8:Now add 1/4 tsp. of salt to it and mix well.

Step 9:Drop the fried vadas into the above prepared curds till they are immersed.

Step 10:Take out the curd dipped vadas and transfer them into another bowl,garnish with coriander leaves.

Step 11:After 10 minutes,serve hot or cold.

NOTE:

*Please use the ingredients in the above mentioned quantity only.

*Do not heat the frying pan on high flame.

*Do not use sour less or very sour curds.
